The blanket scarf – a perfect accessory for the fall. They come in bright plaids, neutral stripes and every color in between. Whether your fall consists of 80 degree days like mine or frigid 30 degree nights, the blanket scarf is a necessary addition to your wardrobe. Wear it as a shawl to dinner, a scarf to a college football game or as a cocoon walking the streets of a very breezy New York.
My favorite blanket scarf came from Madewell a couple of years back, and it hasn’t let me down since. It made an appearance on the Christmas card, in blog photos and served as a blanket in a frigid office.

Yesterday I went into Banana Republic for the first time in probably a decade. I remember my mom buying a BR trench coat when I was in middle school and blue suede loafers in New York. I was blown away by their pieces – the trendiness and bold colors and textures they have incorporated into their line. Who would have thought Banana would be so modern and chic.
Right now, almost everything is 40% off. I got an adorable skirt that will be featured soon and was tempted by a few pairs of trousers. Olivia Palermo also has a collaboration with BR that encompasses her style at a decent price point. You must visit their site to see what I am talking about. This week’s Friday Finds is a round up of my favorite things in my bathroom. From bath bombs to a painting and a few things in between.
Monogrammed Hand Towel
Taylor Miller, the owner of Hazen Jewelry, gave me this beautiful monogrammed towel for graduation. I mean, how beautiful. I can’t wait to have a house one day I can fill with unique pieces like this. Taylor will be my inspiration, of course.
Bath Bombs by Abundantly Aromatic
I first came across these babies at the Dallas Farmers Market. I bought one as a tester and fell in love. My roommate surprised me with a batch for my birthday. Vanilla bath bombs are the perfect soothing treat.
Abstract Painting by Dad
One summer I tried to be creative and paint something for my dorm room. My dad, being an architect, told me I was trying too hard and took over. He created this abstract beach painting that sits as a focal point in my bathroom.
Healthy Glow Face Tanner
I’ve worn this face lotion to work everyday this week. Not only does it cut down on my “getting ready” time in the morning, but it also brings a little color and life to my face. After, I put a little eyeliner and mascara on, and I’m out the door.
Clinique Acne Treatment
I’m already impressed by this product, and I’ve only been using it for a week now. My skin is clearing up from this three step treatment. I bought the starter kit which is great because it is small, less expensive, and you can figure out whether it works for you or not.
Velvet: a huge trend for fall.
I’ve curated a few of my favorite velvet pieces for the season. All different price points and all different styles. Here are some big and small ways you can incorporate velvet into your wardrobe.
3.1 Phillip Lim Bag
As you know, I love a touch of femininity in each outfit I wear. What better way to do this than adding a bow to your hair. The velvet bags are minimal yet add interest to your look. Another way to subtly add velvet to your look is by adding a velvet belt. Front tuck your blouse or sweater into your jeans for a peep of color and texture.
Free People Blazer
Elizabeth and James Cami
COH Rocket Skinny
Front Pocket Skirt
Velvet doesn’t have to be bright. I selected staples for your fall wardrobe. Pair chunky sweaters with the velvet bottoms and sleek pants with the velvet tops.
Rebecca Minkoff Sneaker
Ankle Strap Pump
Free People Mule
Rag and Bone Floral Flat
Loeffler Randall Heel
What a more fun way to add velvet to your wardrobe than by your shoe. Here you can kill a few birds with one stone or knock out a couple of trends in one. The mule is sleek and fresh, and it comes in velvet! The sneaker is everywhere and that blush color is huge for fall.
Today I am headed to New York with my mom, and I can only imagine the walking we are going to do. I’ve decided to focus this week’s Friday Finds on the most comfortable shoes going into Fall. You don’t just need comfortable shoes in NYC, so I’ve pulled a few that we will need for those days when we don’t want to try too hard but don’t want to wear our tennis shoes either.
Vince Warren Slip-On
First up is the Vince slip-on. These come in all the coveted fabrics and colors of fall including olive satin and pink velvet. These shoes have been all the rage the last couple of years, but I love the height Vince has added.
Rebecca Minkoff Sammi Slide
This shoe is made for the times you are feeling a little more daring. These slides will be perfect for a legging and sweater combo.
Loeffler Randall Jasper Tassel Oxford
I love a great oxford – I’m sure you can tell considering I wear my snakeskin oxfords quite regularly. I picture myself wearing this shoe with a slim ankle length black trouser and a crew neck sweater. This shoe speaks “put together J. Crew” to me.
Paul Green Logan Bootie
Comfort is key when it comes to wearing a bootie. If they are too tight, your foot feels claustrophobic. If they are too big, you feel like a clown. Or at least I do. I love the colors this Paul Green bootie comes in. I envision you wearing this bootie with distressed jeans and a plaid button down, but that’s just me.
Vince Bray Loafer
Vince has done it again. Add a velvet loafer to your business casual or casual wardrobe. This shoe is something you can work into your daily rotation.
Thanks for stopping by, and happy Friday!
Summer is always full of traveling, so that means you need the perfect weekender bag. The first duffle is the duffle I got last summer, and it holds just the right amount. I had carried my 2002 Vera Bradley bag for long enough, so I upgraded. Below are some of my other favorites. Enjoy!
This water bottle has been amazing. I am used to drinking so much water at school, and I’m trying to get back in the habit of drinking just as much at home. I’ve taken this with me everywhere (I even snuck it into the movie theater), and the water stays ice cold all day. Get your own!
Statement Earrings 1, 2, 3, 4
Chunky earrings can change an entire outfit. I found a few options to spice up your spring and summer wardrobe.
Blue Stripes 1, 2, 3
Everyone needs blue stripes in their summer wardrobe. My friends and family can attest that half my closet is just that. I’ve pulled a few of my favorites: a flowy blouse, shirtdress and basic tee. Plus, get $50 off at Hudson Way through Monday June 12!
My brother and I have textbooks from years of school, so I found some time to sell them. There are a few great websites that will buy your textbooks and send you a free shipping label. All you have to do is put them in the mail, and they send a check to you. I’ve used: webuytextbooks.com, bookbyte.com, sellbackyourbook.com.
If you haven’t noticed, the bandana is back in style. I used to wear them as a child, and it’s nice to see a trend resurface. There are many ways to wear your scarf: as a headband, neckerchief (tie in front), pointed scarf (tie in back), and as a ponytail scarf. I have linked a few of my favorites below.

The Shopbop sale has some great items at killer prices. Check it out.
So my sweet boyfriend, Henry, gave me these headphones for graduation, and I’m already obsessed. My old ones would always get tangled in my necklaces, but these stay behind your neck. The sound is also extremely clear and wipes out excess noises. I definitely recommend these for those who exercise often.
It’s Friday again, and I’m here to share some of my favorite things with you.
This is the headboard I just purchased for my new apartment! I love the French detail and the neutral colors that can be paired with anything. This is something I hope to have for years. Checkout One Kings Lane for all your home needs.
I’m obsessed with Sugarfina candies. They sell unique flavors from all over the world in the cutest lucite boxes. I received the “Rose All Day” gift set (pictured above) in my Easter basket, and they were absolutely delicious. Sugarfina has many gift sets, perfect for Mother’s Day. The company even has a promo code online if you purchase for your mom.
Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody
Rebecca Minkoff is having an online sample sale, and many adorable bags are included. This one is 50% and is the perfect summer bag. Checkout everything else they have to offer.
Alexis Minika Dress
I love the feminine dresses by Alexis. The line combines cutouts with ruffles and lace – definitely a unique combo. Take a look at their new spring collection!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
I want to start a new segment on my blog entitled “Friday Finds.” Here I will share my favorite items of the week. They may be new items, a restaurant I tried, or a piece of home decor. Who knows… I hope you ride along on this adventure with me.
North Star Stud Earrings
I’m obsessed with these diamond and starburst earrings. They come in 14k yellow, white and rose gold. You can wear them everyday or dress them up. They are $240 a pair.
Textured Stripe Swimsuit
I love that the one piece is back in style. First of all they are just so easy to wear. No slips will happen when you’re all locked into this swimsuit. I love the bow detail in the back, too.
Memphis residents and tourists have a new place to hang out! RailGarten, located in Midtown, has something for everyone. From the ice cream parlor and cocktail lounge to the indoor ping pong bar and the outdoor sand volleyball court. There is even outdoor music and the largest tire swing that even the adults will want to swing on. I can’t wait to go back!
Red Stripe Denim
This twist on your average white denim will make your spring and summer looks. Pair with any blue button down or a ruffled blouse, and you’ve got your summer go-to look.
Ferris Wheel Tee
Okay, how cute is this embroidered tee? Tuck into a denim bottom, slip on your Adidas tennies or favorite mules and you’re out the door.
Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what else you would like to see here.
