Gift Guide for the Girls

Need gift ideas for your girls? Mamas, friends, girlfriends? I picked out everything from home decor to beauty depending on what your best gal loves!

| headband | stemless glasses | tiger coasters | pictures 1 & 2 |

| bow heels | leather bag |

Well, you know I love a headband. They are the best accessory and add such a fun pop of color and texture. They also make a great stocking stuffer! If your girl loves to host a get together, stemless wine glasses, colorful coasters and a print on the wall are perfect.

| pajamas | round brush hairdryer | face roller | beauty set | leggings |

| silk pillow case | wrist weights | hoodie & joggers | sneakers |

My new favorite thing is this set of wrist weights! I love a power walk, and these are the perfect addition. Add these leggings and funky sneakers to complete your workout look. Because many of yall are still working from home, shop this loungewear set to make working from home a little more fun and comfy.

| floral dress | eyeshadow palette | shawl | puffer jacket | sunglasses |

| jewelry case | headband | ginger jars |

I’m obsessed with this metallic bomber. How great would this be paired with jeans and a sweater or your go-to workout gear?! You could even layer it over the floral midi dress. One day I hope my home is accessorized with a few ginger gars, and maybe your girl does too.

I hope this post filled with a few of my favorite things helps you shop for your girls this holiday season! XO, MS

Gift Guide for the Guys

Guys can be hard to buy for especially when they have everything. I love buying something that I know they wouldn’t buy for themselves. Personalized gifts are a great option because they show you put thought into your selection, and let’s be real, most guys aren’t going to spend the extra money on their own monogram. Below you’ll find some of my favorite gift ideas and some I’ll even be buying for my guys!

| hoodie & joggers | poker set | coffee table book |

| personalized glasses | suede loafers | AirPods case |

Henry has been told to avoid this blog post because it will give away some of his gifts! He loves the MLB and played baseball growing up, so I really think he’s going to enjoy looking through this coffee table book of old and new baseball parks. He also needs a new pair of loafers and updated athleisure.

| quilted jacket | quilted vest | rolling suitcase | canvas briefcase |

| personalized golf balls | camo slippers | accessories case |

If your guy loves to golf, he’s going to freak out over his very own personalized golf balls. Some people are still working from home, so a fresh pair of slippers paired back to the athleisure set above will be perfect for him. If he’s dreaming of travel, the accessories case and the rolling suitcase with be a great refresh.

I hope this post made your Christmas shopping a little easier this year! Let me know what you think! XO, MS

Three ways to wear knee high snakeskin boots

| my boots & others: 1, 2, 3 |

When I purchase an item that’s an investment piece, I want to make sure I have a variety of ways to wear it. I often think of this as cost per wear. The more often I wear the item, the more I get for my money. These boots were an investment, so I wanted to share a few ways I plan on wearing them this season.

Skinny Jeans & Boots

| sweater | jeans | headband | bag | boots |

Tuck your go-to non distressed or distressed skinnies into these snakeskin boots. Add a cozy chunky sweater and of course a headband to complete the look!

Cotton Poplin Dress & Boots

| dress | headband | bag | boots |

Elevate these boots with a fun and festive dress – you know I love a statement sleeve. The color is perfect for the holidays too! Add a printed headband or a fun earring to complete this Thanksgiving outfit.

Sweater Dress & Boots

| dress | coat | boots | bag |

A sweater dress is always in style for the fall and winter. I love the look of this dress layered over the tall boots. When it gets a little chilly, layer this shearling teddy coat on top.

Fall and Winter Coats

Complete your cold weather looks with these jackets and coats from some of my favorite retailers. I included both neutral and statement pieces depending on your style – I like a little of both! And, most of these are under $200.

Here are some of my favorite looks from the past featuring printed and textured coats for your inspiration: 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I hope this round up helps you find your new go-to outer layer of the season! XO, MS

Sweater Dresses

Another fall and winter must is the sweater dress! They are perfect for date night with one of these booties and for snuggling up on the sofa at home. I focused on dresses that are around $150 and below with just a couple of exceptions. Many are even under $100! I can’t wait to snuggle up in my sweater dresses all season long – think Thanksgiving night after I’ve eaten too much!

Favorite Fall Booties

Booties are a must-have for the fall and winter. Some I even wear year round. They can dress down a fancy dress and elevate any denim look. Click here and here for examples of both.

I’ve linked some that I own and some that are on my wishlist. The prices are really good on many of these too, so be sure to check them out! Also, many come in a variety of colors, so if you like the style but not the color way, there’s most likely another choice.

Click here, here, here, here and here for more of my favorite looks featuring booties.

Sweater + Shorts

| sweater | shorts | booties | sunglasses | headband | earrings | bag |

This is what I wear when it’s 80 degrees in November – YES you read that right. It pains me to wear a summery blouse this far into the fall, so I styled this lightweight cotton sweater with my go-to boyfriend jean shorts and my favorite new booties.

This sweater comes in over 10 colors, so you’ll be able to fill just about any gap you may have in your wardrobe! The slightly cropped length is perfect for front tucking, my number one styling tip, which was a huge plus, too. I also CAN’T STAND an itchy sweater, and because this sweater is 100% cotton, you can wear it all day without your skin reacting. I can’t forget to mention the amazing price, $78! Overall, I give this sweater an 11/10 and think it would be the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe!! Can you tell this is my new favorite sweater?!

Hope you have a great week! XO, MS

Prints + Croc + Fur

| dress | vest | booties | headband | earrings |

I loving mixing textures and patterns, and in the fall, it’s so much easier to do this! We are naturally wearing many layers with more ways to mix and match.

These booties were a fan favorite last year, so the designer released them again this year – you’re in luck! I’m on my feet most of the day, and these pass the all day comfort test!! Super important in my book as I’m sure in yours. This dress is a new piece I picked up recently from an unexpected retailer. I decided to play with texture and color and layered this fur vest on top!

What unexpected combos can you create this week?! Combining different textures and patterns add interest to any look.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you had a fun Halloween weekend!

XO, MS

Ruffle Front Dress

| dress | booties | headband others: 1, 2, 3, 4 | earrings |

You know I can’t turn down a good ruffle, and on top of that, this dress reminds me of a Sea New York piece but for a third of the price! This is a great dress to wear now through the fall but to bring back out for spring and summer. The sleeves, fabric and color make it a versatile piece!

You also need to check out my fabulous new earrings by Hazen & Co! These earrings are another piece that can be dressed up and down and worn all year long. I find myself investing in items that I can get the most mileage out of, and these earrings are definitely worth the investment! Not to mention the designer and owner of Hazen is the most wonderful human.

Thanks for reading! XO, Mary Sanford

Districtt: where your furniture dreams come true

I can’t believe I am now in my 4th year out of college. Honestly, it feels like just yesterday I was in high school but at the same time, a lifetime ago. Anyway, here I am – officially an adult and booted from my parent’s health insurance. Sigh.

It’s hard to get settled in the early years out of college. Roommates change, jobs change, cities change. I am now in my third home since graduating, and every apartment/duplex has looked very different.

The first year and a half out of college I had two roommates, and we lived in your typical young people’s apartment building. Pizza and beer always in the hallway. One roommate moved to a different part of town to be closer to work, so then my roommate, Margaret, and I were on the hunt for a two bedroom apartment. We were tired of the “lively” apartment scene, so we found ourselves living in a complex full of people over twice our age. Sounds lame, but it was the best! Just a couple of months ago, we moved for the third time because the owners of our place wanted to move back in. We packed up our things and moved into this adorable duplex near SMU. We are enjoying our new home and making it our own with the help of Districtt.

Districtt is a home furnishing subscription service tailored to young professionals who want the freedom to move frequently. Currently they serve Atlanta and Dallas with the hopes of expanding. As I’m sure you know, it can be hard to commit to purchasing furniture when you don’t know if it’s going to work in your future spaces or if you will even like it years to come.

This is where Districtt saves the day! They offer premium furniture that can be rented for however long you need, and friends, this is high quality stuff! I’m obsessed. I love that Districtt has such a curated selection of furniture and accessories. No matter what you choose, you will have a cohesive look that can turn a blank apartment into an elevated home.

Once you’ve submitted your order, Districtt will arrive on your specified day with white glove service to make sure all furniture is assembled and just the way you envisioned. They do the heavy lifting, hanging and debris removal too. And when the time comes to move again, Districtt will be there to remove your furniture, extend your subscription or swap it out for something different. You can even buyout the pieces you love without paying more than retail!

Margaret and I chose three Districtt pieces to complete our home. First, we chose the Malley Bar Cart because we had a goal of entertaining more. We’ve already put it to great use and look forward to many more parties!

Next we chose the Zana Loveseat because we wanted to round out our study. It’s the perfect place to drink your coffee in the morning or read a book. The room has so much natural light, so we are definitely drawn to sit here.

Lastly, I needed a new full length mirror, so I chose the Elaina Mirror which is super sleek. I love the gold trim and the light that bounces off of it from the windows in my room. Of course working in fashion, I need a space to review my outfits before leaving each day.

All in all, Districtt gives you the flexibility that most young people desire! We move, needs change and styles evolve. That is why I am so excited to share this company started by two fellow SMU alumni. If you head to their website now, you can get $100 off your first month of furniture!

I can’t wait to see what you choose! XO, MS
