Mad for Plaid

Happy Monday!! I hope you all had a great weekend. My roommates and I spent the weekend packing up our apartment in anticipation of our move this week. “Moving is fun!” said no one ever. I can’t wait to be unpacked and settled in our new place this coming week.

Now onto more exciting things: my outfit. I love a mini dress and over-the-knee boot combination. It’s a classic fall go-to that can be recreated many different ways. I picked up this plaid dress at Zara while in Chicago visiting my brother. This leather jacket is a vintage piece from my mom’s closet that I snagged while home a few weeks ago. She doesn’t wear it anymore, so now I get to! I received these suede boots last year for Christmas and what a staple they are. Wear them with jeans, tights and dresses or skirts – basically your entire winter wardrobe. I linked the exact pair plus a budget friendly option.

I hope y’all have a great week. Let me know if there is anything you would like for me to post about!

Budget Friendly Booties

I love elevating a look with a pair of booties. They give you height, spunk and texture that a flat can’t give you and a tall boot would overkill. A pair of tan suede booties is the ultimate transeasonal staple. There is no doubt you will wear this shoe over and over.

Add a trendy pair to your closet this season by including a patent, print or velvet to liven up a fall look. Picture this: a black chunky sweater, black distressed skinny jeans and an animal printed bootie. What a cool look! How about a boho printed dress with an olive suede bootie? These shoes will take you from day to night, no problem!

Fall Essential: Corduroy

| sweater | cords | booties |

Is anyone else overjoyed we got an extra hour of sleep Saturday night? I’m feeling refreshed and ready for a new week, I think.

I wanted to share a fall essential with y’all today: corduroy. While there’s nothing new about this staple, you should have a pair in your closet if you don’t already. I shared my pink corduroys with you in a recent post  and continue to enjoy the jean alternative. Below I’ve linked a few more of my favorite corduroy options.

Cheetah Girl, Cheetah Licious

Just like you, I follow many fashion bloggers, and I’ve noticed a recent trend. Many have styled a cheetah print skirt, and while I love a splash of animal print, I’ve never worn this much. Good news is I’m loving it! Think of animal print as a neutral. It goes back to all of your black and ivory pieces. Front tuck a chunky sweater into this skirt for another cozy fall look. Of course I’m wearing short sleeves because it was 80 degrees in Dallas.

Anyone else taking the animal print plunge?

Sweaters Under $200

It’s officially sweater weather!!! Throw out your old pilled sweaters, and add a few to your closet for a fall refresh. All of these sweaters are under $200, and many are under $100. Style these with cords, skirts or jeans to complete a fresh fall look.

Get to shopping ladies! I’ve added a few of these to my cart, and you should too.

Mad for Plaid

| sweater 1, 2 | skort | jacket | booties 12, 3 | bag |

I’m back in high school wearing this plaid skirt, and I love it. I wore a black and white plaid uniform skirt everyday for 6 years, and sometimes I miss the ease of getting dressed in the morning. No makeup – sneakers and a ponytail were my only accessories. Let’s be real, I still don’t wear makeup most days. It’s too much trouble.

Now I get to be more creative with what I wear, and my skirts don’t have to be quite as long. I do love this skirt because it has built-in shorts, so you don’t have to worry about a mishap.

I hope you recreate this fresh fall look!

Coated Denim

I’m a little late to the coated denim trend, but I’m sure glad I made it. Every premium denim brand makes their own version of a coated jean, but these bad boys are my favorite. The combination of the high rise and the sheen make for a great leather legging alternative.

When I think about adding a garment to my wardrobe, I make sure it is versatile. I have the ability to dress these up and down. I paired them with my GG sneakers and a tee for work (shown), but I dressed them up with a silk blouse and heels for dinner with Henry.

What do y’all think about coated denim? Do you own a pair?

Florals, Ruffles and Cords OH MY

| blouse 1 and 2 | cords | flats: 1, 2, 3 |

I am LIVING in these pink cords this fall, and to my surprise, they go with a lot! I can pair an olive jacket, a colorful floral top or a camel sweater with these bad boys (just to give you a few ideas). If you plan on adding these cords to your wardrobe, I suggest going down a size because they do give.

I also want to share a couple of my newest consignment finds!!! Y’all I’m pumped. I purchased this blouse for $35 from a local consignment shop, and I couldn’t be more pleased. You know I love ruffles, and this pattern allows for a great transition piece. I’m going to pair this top back to my olive pants too. My second treasure is this pair of Chanel quilted flats – new with tags and 70% off. Can you believe it? I struck gold. You’ll see these for years to come.
