2021 Gift Ideas

I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of gift guides already this holiday season, but if you need a few more ideas, I thought I would share some of my favorite things, items I’m getting others and pieces on my wishlist. Of course, it’s so easy to order online, but don’t forget to support your local businesses! Plus, shopping in person is way more fun.

First up is the gift guide for those interior design lovers. Help them complete their space with a piece that will make them think of you!

| book 1 & 2 | lamp | candle | scalloped tray | blue and white bowl | gold flower | tea towel |

Guys are hard to shop for! I’m sure they get bored by all the clothes, so I added a few other things that might peek their interest.

| bar tools | whiskey cocktail book | sneakers | decanter & old-fashioned glasses | socks |

| needlepoint belt | puffy vest | yeti cooler |

Lastly, I included items for your fashionable friend! In my mind, the more color and texture the better!

| matching top & shorts | woven bag | pave studs | floral dress | sherpa mules | Gucci scarf |

| sunglasses | colorful necklace | teddy headband | shearling sneakers |

I hope you have the most wonderful Christmas season filled with family, friends, good food and lots of laughter!

Faux Leather Pants

| sweater | faux leather pants (others: 1, 2, 3) | sneakers (cheaper option) | bag | earrings |

Whenever Henry and I go out in Chicago, I feel like my wardrobe is lacking the edge that every other girl is seamlessly pulling off. Let’s be real, I’ll never be edgy, but I can add a piece here and there that will help me fit in. Ha ha! The first thing I added was these faux leather pants that I can dress up and down. I love them casually here with a sweater and sneakers, but I’ve also worn them with a dressier sweater and heels for dinner. Because they are faux leather, I didn’t spend a ton on something I probably wouldn’t wear as much in Dallas. I will say, these are super comfortable if you’re looking to add something like this to your wardrobe!

Thanks for joining me on this ride as we settle into our new city!

Rust Colored Dress + Cowboy Boots

| dress: 1, 2, 3 | boots (other boots I love: 1, 2) | earrings | ear lobe support | curling iron |

We were back in Texas for thanksgiving, and my oh my, did it feel good! And it wasn’t just because of the warm temperature. The south definitely feels like home to us.

Because of COVID, we didn’t get to have an engagement party in Houston, so Henry’s mom thought it would be fun to host a party while we were there! I loved getting to meet all of their favorite people and seeing those we hadn’t seen since the wedding. And of course, I love an opportunity to dress up.

I wore this rust colored dress that I got in Savannah this summer. It felt like the ultimate Thanksgiving piece, and I paired it with these cowboy boots Henry gave me years ago. I hadn’t worn these boots in awhile, but I’m pretty sure I wore them everyday while we were there. It just felt right! I accessorized the outfit with a pair of my favorite pearl hoops. They are a little heavy, so I ordered these patches off of Amazon to support my earlobes. Sounds weird, but they actually work!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are getting into the Christmas spirit! Our tree is decorated, and we’ve got Christmas music on repeat!

Red Smocked Dress

| dress | same pattern: jacket & blouse | sandals & booties | sunglasses | earrings | headband | bag |

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is here?! The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is my favorite part of the year. There is so much joy, anticipation and family time! We are headed to Houston to be with Henry’s family, and I’m so excited to be back in the south for a little bit.

I wore this dress last week in Palm Beach, and I think it’s going to be my Thanksgiving dress too. It’s too cold to wear a short dress in Chicago, so I’ll take any chance I can get to show a little leg. Wouldn’t this be so cute with cowboy boots and a denim vest or jacket?! This pattern also comes in a fabulous blouse and jacket if that’s more your speed.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! XO, MS

Party Platform Heels

| dress: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 | heels | earrings | headband: 1, 2, 3 | clutch |

These heels are just waiting for a party! Have you checked out Nicola Bathie’s collaboration with Antonio Melani for Dillard’s? Well, it’s filled with everything you may need for the holidays including these heels, sparkly dresses and festive accessories! I wore them this past weekend for a rehearsal dinner, and I was impressed with how comfortable they were. The platform definitely makes a difference. You can also get these heels in black and emerald velvet.

Below I have linked a few more of my favorite items for the collaboration!

Backless Beaded Dress

| dress | heels | earrings | clutch | curling iron | sunless tan |

“Lizzie McGuire, you are an outfit repeater!” I love this dress so much that I’ve worn it the last three out of four weekends for different wedding related events. Behind my wedding and rehearsal dinner dresses, this might be my next favorite. Gosh, I just love it. Typically I wouldn’t spend this much on a dress, but I knew that I would have quite a few opportunities to wear it coming up.

I had trouble finding the perfect shoe to go with it, though. Obviously, the dress is the statement, so I wanted to find a heel that was sleek and comfortable. My black heels felt too harsh against the green, and my white heels felt too summery. Since I splurged on the dress, I didn’t want to splurge on my heels too. I’m pleased with how this look came together!

White Blouse with Peter Pan Collar

| top | jeans | jacket: 1, 2, 3 | booties | bag | sunglasses | earrings |

In my book, you can never have too many white blouses. Classic button downs, silky tanks, cotton poplin blouses and maybe an eyelet top with a Peter Pan collar!! When I stumbled upon this beauty thanks to a friend, I knew I had to have it. I’ve been on the hunt for a white top with a fun collar, and you really can’t beat this price.

I envision layering this under a sweater vest, tucking it into a skirt and front tucking it into denim shorts this coming spring and summer. When I buy, I keep versatility in mind, and this top will definitely get lots of wear!

Cardi Party

| cardigan: here & here | jeans | scarf | booties | sunglasses | earrings | bag |

By now you can tell I’m all over this cardigan trend. I have found that there are so many different ways to style them: buttoned all the way up, draped over your shoulders and layered on top of tees and tanks. I’ve had fun introducing this piece into my wardrobe. Next, I want to layer this cardigan over a top with a Peter Pan collar to show off that feminine detail. The Sweater Vest

| sweater vest | shirt | jeans | similar booties: 1, 2, 3 | bag | earrings |

The sweater vest is a fun way to layer and add texture to a casual outfit! I styled it with this old flannel and my go-to skinny jeans to add a little more interest to an otherwise basic look. This sweater vest is also affordable which makes this trend an easy one to try! And don’t worry, you can still wear skinny jeans! When you’re wearing something oversized like this on top, a fitted bottom is the way to go.

I hope you had a happy Halloween weekend and enjoyed some beautiful weather like us!

Party Ready

| dress: here & here | heels | earrings | bag |

Between this coming May and last, Henry and I will have been to and/or in 10 weddings. That means lots of party dresses needed! I recently purchased this beauty for a bridesmaids luncheon, and I plan on wearing it to a rehearsal dinner too in just a couple of weeks. Because we have so many events coming up, I am buying just a few dresses that will work for several of the occasions. This piece is a little different from what I usually gravitate towards, so I was happy when I stumbled upon it!

I have a few more fun dresses cued up for you, so be on the look out!
