Layering the unexpected

Have a sweater that’s a little itchy? Layer something under it! This sleeveless turtleneck can drive me crazy after awhile, so I added this striped Harshman blouse underneath. This is one of my favorite buys from the fall. My mom loved it so much she got one too! Click here to see another way I styled it.

P.S. This sweater is old, so I linked something similar!

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! XO, MS

Happy Monday, friends! It was a beautiful day yesterday, so I spent a lot of my time outside reading Everybody Always by Bob Goff. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend you do!

Now for the outfit details… I bought this top last fall, but I love that it can be worn any season. You can probably tell that I’ve been living in these jeans since I got them! The wash is perfect for spring and summer and well, any season for that matter. I linked an almost identical pair above, so you can recreate my look!

Thanks for stopping by!

Bright Orange

I usually stay away from orange! BUT, this sweater matched a skirt I bought perfectly, so I took the risk. Now, I love it on its own! Last week I styled it with these distressed jeans, ivory loafers and this ponytail scarf to create the perfect spring transitional look. Of course last week it was in the 70s, so it was appropriate to wear a cotton sweater. Now it’s 91 degrees, and I may be putting this sweater up until next fall.

Create this look on your own by shopping the links above! Don’t forget to follow me in the Like to Know It app, so you get constant outfit updates. Thanks for reading!

The Camo Puffer Vest

IMG_7319

This camo vest was a staple for me this fall and winter. I love that it covers my bum and adds a little something to an all black work out look. Here I styled it with a basic white tee and distressed jeans as we head into spring. An otherwise simple look was completed with this third piece. I think I’ll pair it back to white jeans and a button down too.

I try to style my outfits based on the rule of thirds. Top off any look with a scarf, statement earring or some sort of outerwear to pull together an outfit. Check out these blog posts where I used the rule of thirds: 1, 2, 3, 4!

Mix and Match

I love wearing this top with its matching skirt, but why limit yourself? I paired it back to an oldie but a goodie – my distressed skinnies. The high rise accentuates your waist and sucks you in!

I purchased these espadrilles a few weeks ago, and I haven’t taken them off since. Maybe to sleep and shower, but that’s it. They are the perfect height, so I can wear them all day at work and not be in pain. I’m warning you now – you’ll be seeing a lot more of these bad boys this summer.

Thanks for stopping by, and share Sanford Standard with a friend!

Florals, For Sure

I’ve been traveling more than usual, so that explains why my blog posts haven’t been as consistent. But now that I’m back, I wanted to share some fun pieces for spring.

First of all, florals and ruffles are HOT. Both of these trends are a must this spring and summer, so I’ve linked a few more of my favorites below. I’m also in-love with these white resin earrings! They pop against any hair color and match every outfit. Don’t forget to check out the embroidered straw clutch above. You can always count on Hazen and Co to spice up your accessory game.

Friday Finds: Denim Edition

This Friday I’m talking about my favorite jeans and why!

First, is the J Brand Maria. This jean has been a favorite of mine for years. I love it because it is a high rise and a true skinny. The jean comes down a little past the ankle, so it is the perfect length for a cuff.

Next, I love the Citizens of Humanity Rocket skinny. They suck you in in all the right places! I have a distressed gray pair, and they are perfect for all seasons!

Zara is a great place to get trendy denim. I have the best distressed boy friend jeans that I got last spring. I’ve dressed them up with strappy heels and worn them casually with Adidas tennies.

The Stella McCartney Flare jean is the ultimate flare! I love this color for spring and summer, but it also pairs nicely with a black chunky sweater in the winter.

OMG. Let me tell you about the Citizens of Humanity Wide Leg Crop… They feel like pajamas. They are the comfiest pair of jeans I own and go with everything!

I go for the high rise every time because they not only fit my waist but my booty too. I hope I inspired your next denim purchase!

The Brooks Museum featured a tape artist the last couple of weeks. He created an entire mural just out of painter’s tape. Checkout the exhibit.

This will be my summer go-to outfit: a lightweight button down and distressed denim. I thought the slides would be hard to pair with, but surprisingly, I’ve worn them with most neutrals, any denim, and muted patterns. Also, the slides are on sale, so get them while you can!

Happy Summer!

Summer to Fall

| blouse (2) (3) | denim | shoes |

I have gotten a lot of wear out of this Zara (imagine that) blouse since I bought it mid July. It was light enough for hot days in New York but works as a transitional piece into fall. Of course, fall comes a little later around here since it is currently 85 degrees and not a tree has changed. I wore this with shorts and wedges this summer, white jeans, and now dark distressed denim and velvet sandals. It’s now off to the dry cleaners after a few wears and minor spillage. Come back to me soon!
