Tiered Midi Skirt

Hi friends! I shared this skirt briefly with you guys a week or so ago, but I wanted to share with you how I would style it for warmer weather. In Chicago, I styled this skirt with a cream sweater and a pair of booties because, yes, it’s still cold, but in San Diego, I had the opportunity to style it for the warmer weather. I tucked my go-to white tee into the tiered midi skirt and layered a denim jacket on top. I then added by favorite gold accessories, of course, a headband and a pair of espadrilles. Who knew this skirt would be such a great transitional piece?!

Leather pants are a statement piece for fall, but let’s be real, they aren’t in most people’s budgets. A fashionable and budget-friendly alternative is the coated jean. I’m wearing a rust colored pair that I picked up at a local Dallas boutique, but I linked the exact pair above. Dress them up with a silk blouse and heels, or dress them down with an oversized sweater and sneakers. Below are a few of my other favorite coated jeans if you want to introduce this statement piece to your fall and winter wardrobe!

Camo Pants

Happy Humpday!!! You’ll notice a lot of what I’m wearing here are pieces that you’ve seen before just styled a different way! I feel like versatility is key for this time in my life because I don’t have tons of money to spend on new clothes every month. I have a lot of fun reworking the pieces in my closet, and I hope to inspire you to create new looks with what you already have. Sprinkling in a new piece can go a long way when you’re smart about what you buy.

I purchased these camo pants during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer, and lucky for you, they are on sale again! Camo is trending this fall, so why not let this be the piece you add to your closet. You’ll be surprised by how much goes with them – especially items you already have!! Think white eyelet tops (shown above) and blue striped shirts while temps are still high, and don’t be afraid to pattern mix. Once the cooler weather hits, style these pants with a chambray, cozy sweaters in almost ANY solid color, and leather moto jackets. I can’t wait to see how you style these bad boys!!

Floral Midi Dress

I love midi dresses!!! Why? I don’t really know. Maybe because a midi allows for more dress detail while still showing off your shoes?! My mom calls me Laura Ingalls Wilder when I show up in a long dress, and honestly, sometimes I wish I was frolicking through a field. You can shop this dress on sale by clicking the link above!!

The Sweater Dress

I don’t love wearing tons of layers. That’s why I will never survive somewhere that’s average winter temperature is in the 30’s. I can handle it on occasion but prefer the South’s mild winters.  This past weekend, my mom and I visited my brother in Chicago, and Lord have mercy!!! It was eight degrees when we landed. I had to buy a new coat because the one I brought (heaviest I own) wouldn’t suffice.

Last week in Dallas it dipped into the 30’s, and I immediately grabbed this cozy sweater dress. Call me crazy for having bare legs, but this beats the plaid skirt I wore everyday to school growing up. I layered this shearling lined denim jacket to bear the cold. This was the comfiest look for the coldest day!

Mad for Plaid

IMG_9421

I’m back in high school wearing this plaid skirt, and I love it. I wore a black and white plaid uniform skirt everyday for 6 years, and sometimes I miss the ease of getting dressed in the morning. No makeup – sneakers and a ponytail were my only accessories. Let’s be real, I still don’t wear makeup most days. It’s too much trouble.

Now I get to be more creative with what I wear, and my skirts don’t have to be quite as long. I do love this skirt because it has built-in shorts, so you don’t have to worry about a mishap.

I hope you recreate this fresh fall look!
