I had a friend ask me this week, “How do you find such great pieces at consignment stores?” My answer: you just have to go often and with an open mind! My best tips for consignment shopping are to go at the beginning of each season when inventory is fresh and to not look for anything specific. You never know what you may find, and for me, that’s what makes consignment shopping so much fun. It’s a treasure hunt!

Some of my favorite pieces have come from consignment stores including this orange Tory Burch silk dress. The bright colors pop, and the dress is a great transition piece from summer to fall and winter to spring. Unfortunately I couldn’t find it anywhere online, so I encourage you to shop consignment and find your own treasures.

Here are a few other blog posts that feature consignment finds: 1, 2, 3, 4.

Tweed Please

Today’s post is a combination of old pieces that I put together to create a new look. These are all classic pieces that you should keep in your wardrobe. A chambray top is something you can wear any season and with any bottom. The camel vest is the perfect layering item to complete all fall and winter outfits, adding style but not bulk. And of course, every girl must own a tweed skirt.

I did receive this vintage Chanel brooch for Christmas that I’m excited to style. Adding it to this outfit, completed the classic and timeless look.

Try creating a new outfit with old pieces this week! This will bring new life to your wardrobe.

Laces and Bows

So many bows, so little time! Bows don’t always have to be girly. I love to mix patterns and textures to make an outfit more interesting: straw, silk, cotton, denim and leather all in one! Try mixing some of your favorite pieces to create a unique look.

Striped in Scottsdale

I told y’all a while back that Henry and I didn’t anticipate the chilly weather in Scottsdale. I intended on wearing this matching set without the denim jacket to show off the top’s detailing. It’s almost time to lose the jacket in Dallas and fully embrace the summer heat. Until then, this denim jacket is my go-to layering piece. This bag is also a great piece for spring as it carries your lipstick, credit cards and phone – all you need for a night out.

The bags I chose have been lightly used, maybe carried only a handful of times. You can tell they were taken care of by the photos shown on the website.

Life in the City

No dress code, no problem… I found great fun deciding what to wear each day to work. With few limitations, I got to be creative and get inspiration from the people with which I worked.

There was no shortage of art and culture in the city. The Met, The MOMA, and The Whitney are all worth a visit.

These shoes were a lifesaver for Margaret and me. I don’t think we could’ve walked the miles we did in our sandals and loafers. We hated ourselves for following the Adidas trend for the first couple of days, but then we got over it.

Well, you know me and murals. Had to find at least one while I was in town.

I’d rather spend less on a pair of trendy denim than splurging, and instead, I invest in the classics.

Side note, I’m obsessed with the cobblestone streets.
