Double breasted black blazer

| tee | blazer: save or splurge | jeans | loafers | headband |

Everyone needs a great black blazer in their closet! Whether you work in a business professional environment or you are a stay at home mom, it’s a staple piece you can wear to a meeting or out to dinner. I snagged this Veronica Beard blazer at my favorite consignment store, Clothes Circuit, a few months ago. I’ve dreamed about VB blazers – the structure, sophistication and versatility – and now those dreams have become a reality. This is a piece I will have in my closet for a long time!

I linked a more cost effective version of my blazer and another VB option. You can also click links “1-6” to see other consignment options.

Friday Finds: camel and animal print booties

Happy Friday, friends! Fall is officially here and so are fall trends. Today, I’m highlighting two of my favorite trends this season: camel and animal print. Booties are a must-have shoe of the season, so why not incorporate these two trends in your shoe collection?! Almost all of these booties come in different textures and prints if you want to see more!

Side Stripe Jeans

Meet the hottest new accessory – the hair tie!! Of course I’m kidding, but I can’t seem to go anywhere without one. The ability to throw may hair up into a ponytail at a moment’s notice is absolutely necessary whether I’m trying to focus at work, keep my hair out of my eyes or work out. Naturally you see a ponytail holder in many of my photos because I forget it’s there. This is the cheapest accessory on the market 🙂

Happy Wednesday, and thank you for checking out today’s look!

Wearing summer tops in the fall

| top | jeans | sneakers | headband |

Who watched the SMU game this weekend?! Oh my mercy! That was scary but so proud of our boys! The team deserves a much needed week off. I started the game in the stadium and finished it eating ice cream in a bar with my friends as we cheered them on in overtime! If you haven’t been to a game yet this year, you must! You won’t regret it.

I am transitioning my summer tops with darker jeans and a bootie or fall sneaker. This is how I create more mileage in my wardrobe, and you can too! I love when friends send me photos of their outfits when they need guidance, so feel free to do the same!

Happy Monday, and thanks for stopping by!

Friday Finds: What to wear to an SMU football game

Let’s be real! The Ponies are killing it, and I couldn’t be more excited! I always thought the boulevards and the football games were fun during college, but NOW our boys are winning some games. Five to be exact. We all know that SMU girls like to look cute and trendy on gamedays, so I’m here to help. Below you’ll find red and blue fashion forward pieces to wear to the next game and all season long! And for all my Ole Miss girls, this will help you too! Help me cheer on the Mustangs to their 6th straight win as we play Tulsa tomorrow! Pony UP!

Rust Stripe Button Down

| blouse | jeans | earrings | tote | scarf: 1, 2, 3 | loafers: save & splurge |

Introducing your new favorite shirt line… drumroll please… Click here to discover Harshman’s beautiful blouses! This isn’t your average button down either. The rust colored stripes and the pleated collar are a unique combo, AND this blouse is made in the US. I can’t wait to layer sweaters on top – if it ever cools off, that is.

I have to say I was feeling quite put together and tailored in this outfit yesterday, but those feelings were squashed when I met Henry for lunch in his office building. The place was bustling with men in suits and women in pencil skirts and block heels. What a different world I live in at FDF! I’m thankful for the freedom and creativity I get to have when getting dressed in the morning.

My go-to carry-on suitcase

| carry-on suitcase |

I just got back from Portugal a week ago with two of my gal pals, and I only brought a carry-on and my everyday tote! Are you impressed?! As a girl who loves clothes, I impressed myself! I wouldn’t say I’m a nervous traveler (Henry would beg to differ), but I don’t always trust airlines with my luggage especially when I’m traveling somewhere I don’t have back-up clothing. Aka going home to Memphis to my mom’s closet… So maybe I am a nervous traveler! I do like to get to the airport with plenty of time to spare too.

For this trip, I wanted to make sure I only packed things I would be excited to wear. That may sound weird, but there’s no need to add the fluff if I won’t reach for it! This helped me narrow down what I brought. I included 4 pairs of shoes: sandals and sneakers for daytime, wedges for dinners and tennis shoes for outdoor activities. I packed a handful of dresses because those are one and done outfits that take up little space in your suitcase. I also included a pair of white jeans and denim shorts and many tops to go with both. This made styling for day and night really easy – all I had to do was swap my bottom and change my shoe.

I hope this inspired you to pack a little lighter for your next vacation!

Camo Pants

| top | pants | headband | jacket | sunglasses | sneakers |

Happy Humpday!!! You’ll notice a lot of what I’m wearing here are pieces that you’ve seen before just styled a different way! I feel like versatility is key for this time in my life because I don’t have tons of money to spend on new clothes every month. I have a lot of fun reworking the pieces in my closet, and I hope to inspire you to create new looks with what you already have. Sprinkling in a new piece can go a long way when you’re smart about what you buy.

I purchased these camo pants during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer, and lucky for you, they are on sale again! Camo is trending this fall, so why not let this be the piece you add to your closet. You’ll be surprised by how much goes with them – especially items you already have!! Think white eyelet tops (shown above) and blue striped shirts while temps are still high, and don’t be afraid to pattern mix. Once the cooler weather hits, style these pants with a chambray, cozy sweaters in almost ANY solid color, and leather moto jackets. I can’t wait to see how you style these bad boys!!

Friday Finds: Layering Necklaces

Happy Friday, friends! I’m headed to Portugal today with Margaret and Mae for a week of exploring and adventure! Follow on along on Instagram for daily activities and outfit details. I’m starting 25 with a bang that’s for sure!

In Wednesday’s post I shared my love for the three necklaces I wear everyday. They each have meaning, and I don’t see myself taking them off anytime soon. They probably do need to be cleaned, though!! Below you will find links to other delicate necklaces that would be great for stacking! I can’t wait to see how you create your own layered look!

Neutral Linen Dress

| dress: 1, 2, 3 | purse | headband | earrings |

I’m throwing it back to Mexico in July where it was as hot as it is in Dallas today. The heat seems to linger here. And because it does, I keep my summer clothes in rotation. As we inch through September, I’ll start to pair some of my favorite summer dresses with camel booties and the occasional denim jacket. This is a great way to get more wear out of what you’ve got!

Happy Monday! xo, MS
