Tiered Midi Skirt

Hi friends! I shared this skirt briefly with you guys a week or so ago, but I wanted to share with you how I would style it for warmer weather. In Chicago, I styled this skirt with a cream sweater and a pair of booties because, yes, it’s still cold, but in San Diego, I had the opportunity to style it for the warmer weather. I tucked my go-to white tee into the tiered midi skirt and layered a denim jacket on top. I then added by favorite gold accessories, of course, a headband and a pair of espadrilles. Who knew this skirt would be such a great transitional piece?!

You can’t go wrong with eyelet and white jeans in the summer, and they are even better together!

I’m happy to be back in Dallas after two weeks away! Vacation is wonderful and these trips were amazing, but I do love a routine. I traveled to the Snowmass/Aspen area with Henry’s family, to Watersound beach with high school friends and finally to Park City for a bachelorette celebration! I’m thankful for this time with some of my favorite people! For more photos and outfit details from these trips, visit my instagram!

Thanks for stopping by! XO, MS

P.S. I’m going to share our favorite restaurants from Aspen in an upcoming post.

Red and blue summer dress

You know red and blue are a favorite color combo of mine! You can celebrate America’s independence and cheer for the ponies at the same time. I see myself wearing this dress again on July 4th and then for an SMU football game this fall! Crossing my fingers that those still happen… I hope you add this fun summer dress to your closet!

Thanks for stopping by, friends! XO, MS

I love a bright colored midi dress for summer! They are great for brunches with friends, backyard cookouts and happy hours on the patio. I got this one a few weeks ago from Zara, but of course, it looks like it has already sold out. I’ve linked some of my other favorites below, and guess what?? They’re all below $200!

Accessorize with a brooch

IMG_1787

Elevate your winter coat with a vintage brooch. You can find them at consignment stores, on Etsy and in your grandmother’s jewelry box, but don’t take before asking! I received this vintage Chanel brooch for Christmas, and I’ve had a lot of fun styling it. I haven’t worn brooches much until now, but I love how they can complete any outfit.

I bought this coat at Zara last weekend in Chicago, and of course I can’t find it online. I did link some other fabulous plaid coats, so you can recreate my look. Now is a great time to buy a coat because many are on sale! The booties were a Christmas gift from last year, so I can’t find them either.

Transitions

IMG_1695

| sweater | skirt | shoes | necklaces: 1, 2, 3 |

The necklaces I wear hold meaning, and rarely do I take them off. I can’t help but be a sentimental person! My parents gave me the pearl necklace when I graduated from Christ Methodist Day School in the 6th grade. Then they gave me the diamond necklace for my high school graduation. I received the gold pendant from Henry our senior year at SMU, and I don’t think I’ve taken it off once. These pieces of jewelry mark special moments in my life and times of great transition.

Speaking of transitions – grab your favorite sweater, and pair it with a pleated skirt for the perfect transitional look. It may be February, but temps have been in the 70s here. Find the perfect balance with a sweater and skirt combo.

Olive You

IMG_1582

| sweater | pants | shoes | bag | earrings |

I love adding olive pieces to my wardrobe. Olive is both a neutral without being boring and a color without being overbearing. The right olive pieces can be worn year round. Think olive jeans or a military style vest. Both of these can be worn with chunky sweaters in the fall and linen blouses in the spring.

I picked up these olive pants at a consignment store but linked a similar option above. This is another example of something that can be worn throughout the year. As we move toward summer, I’ll style these pants with an eyelet blouse and espadrilles.

Western Inspired

IMG_1320

| dress: 1, 2, 3, 4 | vest | boots | bag | sunglasses |

Hi Friends! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I spent lots of time outside enjoying this beautiful Dallas weather.

I want to share this scarf printed dress with you guys. I purchased it about a month ago from the Zara sale, and of course it’s no longer online. I found a few similar options for you to choose from though! I was influenced by the buckles in the print to create a western inspired look. I added my favorite booties and fur vest. Go from day to night, by losing the vest and boots and adding a heel and clutch.

Frayed

Frayed edges are everywhere! Sweaters, jackets, denim. You name it! They are a must-have. These jeans combine a few of my favorite denim trends: the baby bootcut, side seam detailing and the released hem with frayed edges. This jean will be the perfect piece to take into spring and summer. The colors are fresh, and you can’t go wrong with a light wash! How should I style them for spring?
