Last week we had picture day at work – kind of felt like middle school but with no uniform. Here I am in the working world, and I get to choose my own outfit. I wanted to put together something that showed my personality but was professional and spoke to all different styles. I want my clients to trust me as the expert.

This blazer was my first step in building the outfit. Why? Because what screams professional more than a blazer? Next, I chose the blouse because well, it was going to be a focal point in the photo too. It’s feminine and adds dimension and texture, so I thought it would pop against the black blazer. Lastly, I chose these coated jeans because they were a nice contrast to the feminine details in the blouse and the structured lines of the blazer, and of course I had to wear a headband. They have been staples in my wardrobe over the last 8 months!

Double breasted black blazer

Everyone needs a great black blazer in their closet! Whether you work in a business professional environment or you are a stay at home mom, it’s a staple piece you can wear to a meeting or out to dinner. I snagged this Veronica Beard blazer at my favorite consignment store, Clothes Circuit, a few months ago. I’ve dreamed about VB blazers – the structure, sophistication and versatility – and now those dreams have become a reality. This is a piece I will have in my closet for a long time!

I linked a more cost effective version of my blazer and another VB option. You can also click links “1-6” to see other consignment options.

The Headband Trend

Who else is loving the headband trend?! To be honest, this is my first time wearing one since about the 8th grade, and I am digging it. My coworker wears one almost everyday, and they always complete her look. I’ve linked this one above, so you can try out the trend if you haven’t already! Shop some of my other favorites below!

P.S. My jeans are on sale and quite a few sizes left! I’d recommend sizing up.

Frayed

Frayed edges are everywhere! Sweaters, jackets, denim. You name it! They are a must-have. These jeans combine a few of my favorite denim trends: the baby bootcut, side seam detailing and the released hem with frayed edges. This jean will be the perfect piece to take into spring and summer. The colors are fresh, and you can’t go wrong with a light wash! How should I style them for spring?

Ruched and Ruffled

When I saw this skirt, I knew I had to have it – even though it was 2 sizes too big. It was such a great deal, $300 off, so I couldn’t pass it up. And, what’s even better is that I know it will transition nicely into my spring and summer wardrobe. I can’t wait to wear the skirt with a white blouse or cropped top and a sandal! I guess you’ll have to stick around to see how I end up styling it.
