Short and Sweet

Guys, what is going on with me? All of the outfits I’ve been wearing recently are red, white and pink. This is not the norm!! I’m usually in blue and white head to toe. Maybe it’s time to be introspective.

On another note, these shorts are the bomb! They are super comfy and inexpensive – my favorite combo. Wear them as a swim coverup or out to dinner with an espadrille. You need these in your closet, and share this with someone you think does too!

Looks for Less

Today’s post is about getting looks for less. Most of us can’t afford outfits with these kinds of price tags, so I’ve done a little work for you. I’ve taken outfits from Farfetch and transferred them into everyday affordable looks. Enjoy!

Needless to say, most people can’t afford this look. The blouse is well over $600, not to mention the jeans, leather bag and shoes. I’ve curated a few pieces so that you can recreate this trendy yet classic outfit on your own. You can get this look for around $315 with the pieces I selected.

I love the color combo Farfetch has created. The bag alone is $1000, but I’ve created this look for under $400. These pieces  are very versatile and can be worn through fall/winter into spring.

I can’t say no to a pop of red. This past weekend I wore a bright red dress to a wedding, and I loved it. This look can be transitioned from work to casual. The Givenchy trousers will set you back $1200.

I’ve had this romper for awhile now, and I’m constantly trying to create new looks with it. Since it is a blank canvas, the pairing options are endless. I’ve worn the romper with a denim vest and adidas, wedges and chunky earrings and now with mule espadrilles and a neckerchief, among other things. Like I mentioned in Friday Finds a few weeks ago, be bold and try out the neckerchief.

Life in the City

No dress code, no problem… I found great fun deciding what to wear each day to work. With few limitations, I got to be creative and get inspiration from the people with which I worked.

There was no shortage of art and culture in the city. The Met, The MOMA, and The Whitney are all worth a visit.

These shoes were a lifesaver for Margaret and me. I don’t think we could’ve walked the miles we did in our sandals and loafers. We hated ourselves for following the Adidas trend for the first couple of days, but then we got over it.

Well, you know me and murals. Had to find at least one while I was in town.

I’d rather spend less on a pair of trendy denim than splurging, and instead, I invest in the classics.

Side note, I’m obsessed with the cobblestone streets.

This isn’t your average garage sale… Luxury Garage Sale is a high-end consignment boutique that offers brand new and gently worn handbags, clothing and jewelry. I am so excited to be working with LGS as their brand ambassador – what a driven group of women to be working for and representing on SMU’s campus! If you love luxury items without the outrageous price, check out their boutiques in Dallas and Chicago or online! You are sure to find one-of-a-kind pieces just like the 3.1 Phillip Lim shorts I’m wearing. Both consigners and shoppers receive white-glove service that keeps them coming back for more.

Today’s stops included Wesley’s Chapel, Speakers’ Corner, and brunch at Sixty One. Running through the underground tube may not be a gift of mine, but I’m learning. The cool temps required a little something extra – not your typical summer sweater – for our church service this morning. We also learned that heels might not be your best bet on the underground.
