Last week we had picture day at work – kind of felt like middle school but with no uniform. Here I am in the working world, and I get to choose my own outfit. I wanted to put together something that showed my personality but was professional and spoke to all different styles. I want my clients to trust me as the expert.

This blazer was my first step in building the outfit. Why? Because what screams professional more than a blazer? Next, I chose the blouse because well, it was going to be a focal point in the photo too. It’s feminine and adds dimension and texture, so I thought it would pop against the black blazer. Lastly, I chose these coated jeans because they were a nice contrast to the feminine details in the blouse and the structured lines of the blazer, and of course I had to wear a headband. They have been staples in my wardrobe over the last 8 months!

These navy suede booties have been a staple for me over the last couple of years. I love them with skirts and dresses and of course with jeans. PLUS they are the perfect color for SMU games! In fact, this is the look I wore to our homecoming game this past weekend. Can you tell I’m proud of our ponies?! Anyway, if you’d like to add something similar to your wardrobe, shop the links above and below! You’ll be surprised with how much these booties go with! P.S. My blouse is on major sale!

Want the leather look?

Leather pants are a statement piece for fall, but let’s be real, they aren’t in most people’s budgets. A fashionable and budget-friendly alternative is the coated jean. I’m wearing a rust colored pair that I picked up at a local Dallas boutique, but I linked the exact pair above. Dress them up with a silk blouse and heels, or dress them down with an oversized sweater and sneakers. Below are a few of my other favorite coated jeans if you want to introduce this statement piece to your fall and winter wardrobe!

Coated Denim

I’m a little late to the coated denim trend, but I’m sure glad I made it. Every premium denim brand makes their own version of a coated jean, but these bad boys are my favorite. The combination of the high rise and the sheen make for a great leather legging alternative.

When I think about adding a garment to my wardrobe, I make sure it is versatile. I have the ability to dress these up and down. I paired them with my GG sneakers and a tee for work (shown), but I dressed them up with a silk blouse and heels for dinner with Henry.

What do y’all think about coated denim? Do you own a pair?
