Valentine’s Day Inspiration

How is it almost February and how is it already 2021? I feel like it’s still last March! What have I done over the past 10 months?!

Since Valentine’s Day is just a couple of weeks away, I thought I would share some of my favorite festive pink and red pieces! Whether you’re going out or staying in, there is something here for you! I’ve linked a variety of price points too.

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends! Let me know what you think about this round up.

Three ways to wear knee high snakeskin boots

| my boots & others: 1, 2, 3 |

When I purchase an item that’s an investment piece, I want to make sure I have a variety of ways to wear it. I often think of this as cost per wear. The more often I wear the item, the more I get for my money. These boots were an investment, so I wanted to share a few ways I plan on wearing them this season.

Skinny Jeans & Boots

| sweater | jeans | headband | bag | boots |

Tuck your go-to non distressed or distressed skinnies into these snakeskin boots. Add a cozy chunky sweater and of course a headband to complete the look!

Cotton Poplin Dress & Boots

| dress | headband | bag | boots |

Elevate these boots with a fun and festive dress – you know I love a statement sleeve. The color is perfect for the holidays too! Add a printed headband or a fun earring to complete this Thanksgiving outfit.

Sweater Dress & Boots

| dress | coat | boots | bag |

A sweater dress is always in style for the fall and winter. I love the look of this dress layered over the tall boots. When it gets a little chilly, layer this shearling teddy coat on top.

Sweater + Shorts

| sweater | shorts | booties | sunglasses | headband | earrings | bag |

This is what I wear when it’s 80 degrees in November – YES you read that right. It pains me to wear a summery blouse this far into the fall, so I styled this lightweight cotton sweater with my go-to boyfriend jean shorts and my favorite new booties.

This sweater comes in over 10 colors, so you’ll be able to fill just about any gap you may have in your wardrobe! The slightly cropped length is perfect for front tucking, my number one styling tip, which was a huge plus, too. I also CAN’T STAND an itchy sweater, and because this sweater is 100% cotton, you can wear it all day without your skin reacting. I can’t forget to mention the amazing price, $78! Overall, I give this sweater an 11/10 and think it would be the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe!! Can you tell this is my new favorite sweater?!

Hope you have a great week! XO, MS

Headband or no headband? That is the question.

I couldn’t decide if I liked this outfit with or without the headband, so I shot both. What do y’all think? My mom told me it wasn’t necessary for me to wear a headband everyday (haha), so I’ve tried to mix things up over the last few weeks. She likes them, so this isn’t a dig at her! Last week I think I only wore a headband twice – that’s big for me. As you’ve seen over the last 8 months, they’ve become quite a staple in my wardrobe. Not only are they cute, but they also keep my hair out of my eyes while still being able to wear it down. Something that is hard to master when you have a lot of hair like me… What do y’all think? Should I take a break from headbands?

Sunday’s Best

IMG_9341

| dress | boots others: 1, 2 | coat | bag |

Finally, Saturday felt like the first day of winter. After 70 degrees and tornado warnings on Friday, we had a snow filled Saturday morning. That didn’t stop us from enjoying a sunny afternoon at Katy Trail Ice House – heaters and blankets included.

Sunday morning I couldn’t bare to show much leg, so I grabbed my over-the-knee boots and a cozy coat. These boots have been a favorite for years and will continue to be a classic style. If you’re looking for an investment piece, these are a go! Grab this dress while it’s still available too – deeply discounted!

Happy Monday! XO, MS

My Recent Rent The Runway Experience

I hope you all had a very merry Christmas!

I used Rent The Runway for Henry’s sister’s debutant presentations this past weekend, and the process was seamless! I was very pleased with the two dresses I rented and the back up size option they provided. Everything arrived on time (early in fact) and wrinkle free. I will say one of the dresses had a minor stain and a stubborn zipper, but once zipped, I was good to go!

I love that with RTR you can wear something that may be out of your budget, a dream dress per se, and you won’t break the bank! If I had purchased these two dresses on my own, I would’ve paid close to $2,000, but instead I paid less than $180! Below I will link other dresses I love from RTR, similar heels and bags too.

Gingham Style

IMG_2384

| blouse | jacket | jeans | flats |

If you’ve been following along for a while now, you’ve probably figured out how I love gingham. Tops, dresses, ribbons… You name it, and I’ve worn it. When I stumbled upon this detailed gingham blouse, I knew I had to have it. Not to mention I got it for a serious deal! Now you know two things I can’t resist: gingham and a deal. Get spring ready by recreating my look from the links above!

Here are a few other times I’ve worn gingham over the years: 1, 2, 3, 4.

You may have also noticed that I’ve been wearing my hair like this a lot lately. I’ve been French braiding it half way down by head and then putting it in a ponytail. My hair will stay out of my face all day, and it looks cute! No slicked back pony for me! It also holds everything back when working out.
