Light Pink: old made new

I love creating new looks with old pieces! I’ve had the coat and jeans for years but never thought about pairing them together until the other day. Before I walked out the door, I decided I probably needed an extra layer, and this is the only coat that went with my outfit. In my mind, it’s warmer than it really is. Hurry up spring!

I challenge you to create a new combination out of pieces you already have!

Pops of Red and Blue

Can you tell I’m ready for spring? Hems are getting shorter as warm weather approaches. Yesterday, Henry and I went to the last SMU basketball home game of the season where red and blue is a must, so I completed this neutral look with a bright red bag and a red and blue headband. Sandals felt a bit premature, so I opted for a closed toe flat. Unfortunately, we blew a 24 point lead – seems to be a trend… Football season can’t get here soon enough!

Congrats C + K: wedding attire recap

Congratulations to the Vanns! It was so fun to be home with new and old friends from Dallas and Memphis as we celebrated Callie and Keaton. The wedding was black tie optional, so I opted for this short dress and metallic shoe combo. Unfortunately, this is the best picture I got of the dress, but click the links above for more detail! It was super comfortable and feels appropriate for many different occasions. Highly recommend!! I also recommend sizing a half size up in these heels.

Transition your winter pieces into spring

An easy way to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring is by pairing your favorite sweaters with your go-to white jeans. White jeans brighten up any look especially on a cold dreary day. Keep things simple with a bootie or add a pop of color like I did with a bright loafer. Spring and summer clothes are my favorite pieces to buy and wear, so any chance I get to pull them out, I do!

Headband or no headband? That is the question.

I couldn’t decide if I liked this outfit with or without the headband, so I shot both. What do y’all think? My mom told me it wasn’t necessary for me to wear a headband everyday (haha), so I’ve tried to mix things up over the last few weeks. She likes them, so this isn’t a dig at her! Last week I think I only wore a headband twice – that’s big for me. As you’ve seen over the last 8 months, they’ve become quite a staple in my wardrobe. Not only are they cute, but they also keep my hair out of my eyes while still being able to wear it down. Something that is hard to master when you have a lot of hair like me… What do y’all think? Should I take a break from headbands?

Picture Day

Last week we had picture day at work – kind of felt like middle school but with no uniform. Here I am in the working world, and I get to choose my own outfit. I wanted to put together something that showed my personality but was professional and spoke to all different styles. I want my clients to trust me as the expert.

This blazer was my first step in building the outfit. Why? Because what screams professional more than a blazer? Next, I chose the blouse because well, it was going to be a focal point in the photo too. It’s feminine and adds dimension and texture, so I thought it would pop against the black blazer. Lastly, I chose these coated jeans because they were a nice contrast to the feminine details in the blouse and the structured lines of the blazer, and of course I had to wear a headband. They have been staples in my wardrobe over the last 8 months!

I get cold pretty easily, so instead of breaking out these booties in the 30 degree temperature (that we don’t have often), these suckers make a statement when it’s 60 degrees. Dress them down with your leggings and puffy coat or up with a relaxed midi dress. What I’m trying to say is, don’t save these booties for the snow! There are way too many ways to wear them!!
