A Trolley Ride

May and I got a nice ride down Main Street by Mr. James, a Memphis trolley driver. He pitched many photo ideas and made a few stops for us along the way.

Today, I wore a Zara (of course) green jumpsuit with a denim vest and platform oxfords. Unfortunately, the jumpsuit is no longer available, but I found one similar. This denim vest has become a staple in my wardrobe no matter the season. I pair it with almost everything.

PS. If you haven’t ridden a Memphis trolley before, you must. AND it’s only $1.

Giveaway

img_6208img_6209img_6172-1img_6207      | shirt | skirt | shoes |

My cousin, Anna, and I teamed up for our first giveaway this week! Alyssa Herzog won a $50 Zara gift card and a Beads by Anna leather wrap chocker. Congrats!

I am wearing my favorite button down with a suede leather skirt and platform oxfords. I consider the snakeskin oxfords a neutral, and I pair them with most anything. The skirt was a great find at the new Zara in NorthPark Center, and it will work well with any sweater or blouse I have. I have a feeling it will become a staple of my winter wardrobe!

Fringed Sweater

And so the mad shopping begins! On just about every site, you can find almost anything on sale. Of course, Neimans doesn’t mark down your favorite Gucci purse, but we don’t get everything we want.

The fringed sweater I am wearing is a great deal. It’s only $21 and can be layered over collared shirts and under heavy coats. The fringe along the hem makes the sweater unique, and so I had to have it.

Also, for those of you who haven’t visited the Big River Crossing, you must! It showcases a wonderful view of our wonderful city.

Sneakers Meet Oxfords

I’m so into this sneaker trend! Prada and Stella McCartney are killing it, but there are also less expensive options. These shoes will take you through all four seasons, so they are worth the investment. Today, I wore these sneaks with ripped jeans and a sweater, but they would also look great with a sweater dress or a leather skirt. If you aren’t following this trend, you should be.

Oh to be a Child

Who knew overalls would come back in style? My mom isn’t so sure that they have, but I like them anyway, oops. I’ve worn them a few different ways: with a t-shirt and sneakers, a button down silk blouse and heeled sandals (shown here), and in the winter I hope to wear a warm sweater and booties. The overalls are versatile – I can wear them every season, no matter the temperature, AND they make you feel like a child again! They will keep me warm in the winter as jeans do but can be worn on a summer night, too. Sorry mom :))

Summer to Fall

I have gotten a lot of wear out of this Zara (imagine that) blouse since I bought it mid July. It was light enough for hot days in New York but works as a transitional piece into fall. Of course, fall comes a little later around here since it is currently 85 degrees and not a tree has changed. I wore this with shorts and wedges this summer, white jeans, and now dark distressed denim and velvet sandals. It’s now off to the dry cleaners after a few wears and minor spillage. Come back to me soon!

Another NYC Purchase

I was hesitant to purchase this dress in New York this summer because I wasn’t sure if it looked poorly made or if I would even wear it. It’s not a dress that I can wear to class, and sadly, it’s not blue or red for SMU’s boulevard season. To my surprise and delight, I have worn it many times sense being back at school, and I’m happy with the quality! The cut is extremely flattering on all body types, too. I love all of the feminine details: pom-poms, crochet cutouts and a low back.

Unfortunately, I purchased this outfit this summer in New York, and it’s no longer available. I’ve attached other matching sets that do the trick!

I wore this last weekend to SMU’s boulevard against TCU. The Mustangs lost, but this outfit kept me fairly cool during a hot afternoon game. Enjoy your last few moments of warm weather!
