Let’s all give a warm welcome to Alice and Olivia. Last week marked the grand opening of the A+O boutique in Highland Park Village, located near Celine and Five and Ten. The boutique hosted an opening party that was attended by press and shoppers alike.
Stacey Bendet, graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, started Alice and Olivia in 2002. The line began with her desire to make “a trouser sexy.” It has become a contemporary clothing brand dedicated to its mission: “Stacey incorporates her love of culture, music, art and vintage fashion into each collection, and gives something fresh and edgy to the alice + olivia girl every season.” Bendet focuses on combining the whimsical and flirty with the sexy and sophisticated. Her line carries everyday sweaters and skirts all the way to gowns and shoes. The expansive variety in inventory allows any woman to find the perfect addition to her wardrobe.
There are over 30 Alice and Olivia boutiques in the United States as well as abroad. A+O can also be found in major department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. The Dallas boutique has a sleek and modern aesthetic dressed in black and white with touches of gold accents.
Rachel Smith, SMU student and A+O addict, attended the opening party Thursday. She exclaimed she had a difficult time deciding what pieces to purchase and those to leave behind. Honestly, the brand should be called “Alice and Olivia and Rachel.” Her devotion to the brand heightened with the addition of the HPV boutique, conveniently located just a mile away from campus. Smith enjoyed shopping in the visually pleasing environment and plans on returning in the near future. Hopefully, next time she takes us!
